| SMP Inc.
is the manufacturer of the Alpha Cradle Patient Immobilization System.
At the 1981 ASTRO meeting, in Miami, Florida, 2 Alpha Cradle products
were introduced to the field of radiation therapy. Within the first
year, the product line grew from the original 2 forms introduced to 14
different anatomical forms. Today, 28 years later, SMP offers more than
40 different anatomical forms, features 10 different sizes of foaming
agents, and offers individual customized forms where needed.
Our unique and patented line of products have been awarded 7 patents, and have been used in more than 2,100 cancer treatment centers and hospitals, located in 18 different countries around the world. The products can be found in medical encyclopedias, textbooks, and journals. The Alpha Cradle brand products continue to be discussed in medical abstracts and presented in papers as being a critical part in successful radiation therapy treatment programs. SMP Inc. is located in North Canton, Ohio. Our 3 warehouses sit on 6 acres of land that have been developed into a park-like setting. Deer, wild turkeys, opossums, raccoons, ground hogs, woodpeckers, red-tailed hawks and other wildlife are just some of the natural guests that can be found. SMP Inc. uses recycled products that would have been sent to landfills, but now are used to make body forms on cancer patients that help increase accuracy and increase patient comfort. Since 2003, SMP Inc. has sent care packages to the men and women of the Armed Forces that have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. The president of SMP, Jeffrey Kostich, sends personal letters and packages each month during the soldier's tour. A Memorial Wall in his office has been dedicated to the men and women served by this program over the years. SMP Inc. supports many charities including Helping Hospitalized Vets (HHV), the USO, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. SMP Inc. also donates thousands of dollars of free products each year to VA Medical Centers, teaching hospitals and training centers across the United States.
